You, Me & Friends “Favourite Places” ***Alice Springs***

After departing Uluru on our tour of The Red Centre and Top End, we head to Alice Springs. Alice Springs is a vibrant outback town nestled in the heart of Australia’s Red Centre. Here, we will discover a blend of rugged landscapes, rich history, and unique cultural experiences.

We start our adventure with a half-day tour of the majestic MacDonnell Ranges. Marvel at the ancient rock formations, hidden gorges, and breathtaking views as you traverse this stunning landscape. Our guide will regale you with tales of the regions geological wonders and the indigenous traditions that have thrived here for millennia.

Afterwards, we delve into the history and heritage of Alice Springs as we go on a guided city tour. We will visit the iconic Royal Flying Doctor base, where you will learn about the history and activities of the RFDS’s pilots, engineers, doctors and nurses, and the experiences of the patients that are carried and cared for each day. You will also learn about the importance of vital medical services provided to remote outback communities. Then, we step inside the School of the Air, a pioneering institution that delivers education to children living in the vast and remote regions of the Northern Territory. Gain an insight into the challenges and triumphs of outback life as we explore these essential facilities.

As the sun begins to set, we will embark on an evening tour of the Alice Springs Desert Park. Here, we will encounter the diverse flora and fauna of the desert environment, from kangaroos and emus to native birds and reptiles. Experience the magic of the outback come to life as we wander through the immersive exhibits and witness captivating nocturnal creatures that emerge under the cover of darkness.

Oh my gosh, we all had a fantastic day out. Thank you so much. I really didn’t expect to like all those weird and wonderful snacks during the "Curious Food Train" activity, and didn’t think they would all participate. The staff all keep thanking us for such a great day. Looking forward to next years event!
