Vietnam & The Lost City of Angkor Oct19

By mid-morning on Day 2 of our Hanoi sightseeing tour, it was time for a coffee, so we headed to the cafe that started the “egg coffee” craze – Giang Coffee.

Founded in 1946 by Mr. Nguyen Giang, this iconic café has been serving up its signature egg coffee for generations, delighting locals and travellers alike with its unique blend of flavours.

Located down a dark lane in the vibrant streets of Hanoi, this compact cafe was crowded with locals, all perched on tiny plastic stools, enjoying the delicious beaten egg with condensed milk on thick black coffee.

As we stepped inside, we were greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the warm ambiance of a traditional Vietnamese café. The walls were adorned with vintage photographs and memorabilia, offering a glimpse into the cafés storied past, while the bustling atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for savouring a cup of their famous egg coffee.

Egg coffee, or cà phê trứng, is a specialty of Hanoi and a must-try for coffee enthusiasts visiting the city. Made with a rich blend of Vietnamese coffee, sweetened condensed milk, and a frothy egg yolk topping, this indulgent concoction is a delicious fusion of sweet and bitter flavours that is sure to tantalize your taste buds.

At Giang Café, each cup of egg coffee is meticulously crafted by skilled baristas, ensuring a perfect balance of flavours with every sip. For the ultimate coffee experience, pair it with one of their delectable pastries or Vietnamese snacks!

Oh my gosh, we all had a fantastic day out. Thank you so much. I really didn’t expect to like all those weird and wonderful snacks during the "Curious Food Train" activity, and didn’t think they would all participate. The staff all keep thanking us for such a great day. Looking forward to next years event!
