Franklin Garden Ramble

Hosted Tour: 4 Days / 3 Nights:  Departing: Fri 15th Nov 2024

On the morning of Day 1, we are collected from our Whangarei homes and travel to Auckland via a refreshment stop enroute. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Parnell Rose Gardens for a sumptuous high tea. After exploring the beautiful rose gardens, we will head to the Domain Wintergardens before having dinner in Auckland, then travel to Pukekohe and check into our accommodation.

Day 2 starts off with a big breakfast, then we head off to the Franklin Hospice Garden Ramble. This year the featured gardens will be in Paerata, Runciman, Harrisville and Bombay. There will not only be gardens on display, but markets with plants, crafts, jewellery, art etc and food stalls as well.

Over the course of the weekend we will tour at least six gardens, many full of colour and energy. We will visit gardens with manicured lawns, brick edged borders, mature trees, and shrubs generously underplanted with masses of flowers, productive gardens and gardens with native bush.

On Day 4 we will visit Lynda Hallinan’s personal garden Sweetgum Cottage in Hunua. Lynda is the former editor of New Zealand Gardener and Weekend Gardener magazines, as well as fronting TV shows Get Growing and Ground Rules. Lynda will give us a guided tour and serve us a homemade morning tea.

In the early afternoon we will depart Auckland and head home to Whangarei to arrive back at our homes in the early evening.

Oh my gosh, we all had a fantastic day out. Thank you so much. I really didn’t expect to like all those weird and wonderful snacks during the "Curious Food Train" activity, and didn’t think they would all participate. The staff all keep thanking us for such a great day. Looking forward to next years event!
