Wildlife Adventure-Borneo

Hosted Tour: 14 days / 13 nights

On the morning of Day 1 we are collected from our Whangarei homes, and head to our Auckland Airport hotel (1 night). The next day we take the midday flight to Kuala Lumpur (2 nights)

 On Day 3 we fly to Sandakan and travel by road to we head to Sepilok (3 nights). Here, we visit an Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre where we will walk through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orangutans and visit an enclosed nursery area for young orangutans. Then we will move on to the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about the conservation of the world’s smallest bear. We will also visit the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary and The Rainforest Discovery Centre where we take a bird’s eye view of the centre from the canopy walk and hanging bridge,and explore the botanical garden.

 On Day 7 we embark on a 2½ hour boat journey along Sabah’s longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. We stay in two different Rainforest Lodges (3 nights) and over the next four days enjoy trips on the Kinabatangan River, Kelenanap Oxbow Lake and cruise along the Menanggol River in search of wildlife such as pygmy elephants, crocodiles and the amazing birdlife. We will enjoy both sunrise and sunset river cruises.

After our time in therRainforest, we flying to Kota Kinabalu for a luxurious resort stay (3 nights) We will explore the city and the night markets, and also have a free day to relax at the resort or enjoy an activity of your choice,such as snorkelling in the marine reserve or shopping.

We then fly home via Kuala Lumpur, on an overnight flight to Auckland then shuttle to our homes in Whangarei.

Oh my gosh, we all had a fantastic day out. Thank you so much. I really didn’t expect to like all those weird and wonderful snacks during the "Curious Food Train" activity, and didn’t think they would all participate. The staff all keep thanking us for such a great day. Looking forward to next years event!
