On the morning of day 1 we are collected from our Whangarei homes and travel to Auckland Airport for an afternoon flight to Christchurch. We will have 2 nights in Christchurch – ‘The Garden City’, exploring the city centre with a visit to the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, a city tour and dinner on the Tramway restaurant.
We will then head to Hanmer Springs (3 nights), and from our base here enjoy visiting several gardens in the North Canterbury region as part of the Hurunui Garden Festival. Visiting 14 gardens over the course of the trip; from alpine gardens to edible gardens, native gardens to cottage gardens, gardens of national significance and manicured formal gardens, there will be a garden for everyone!
On day 5 we will spend the day at The Hanmer Springs Fête. It is said to be a shopping experience like no other, set in stunning grounds, packed with handpicked stalls, and full of festive charm. It’s a must-do for anyone who loves quality, creativity, and a great day out.
Our final stop will be Akaroa (2 nights) where we will visit 2 very different gardens and have some free time to explore this small seaside town with a big French influence.
We will fly back to Auckland on day 8, head home to Whangarei via Auckland, to arrive early evening.
