On the morning of day one we are collected from our Whangarei homes and travel to Auckland (1 night), where we stay near the airport in preparation for our early flight the next day. Day two we head to the airport and fly direct to Adelaide (1 night), arriving just before lunch in time for an afternoon getting acquainted with South Australia’s park-like capital city.
Day three we head inland to Monarto Safari Park. Newly opened in 2025, Monarto is the largest safari park outside of Africa. Use the Zu-loop bus to discover the whole park, hopping on and off at your favourite spots along the way. Our day at Monarto concludes with the Sunset Safari Tour – an exclusive after hours experience for Monarto Resort guests on purpose-built Safari Trucks. We will then spend a night at the Monarto Safari Resort (1 night).
The next morning you may choose to take in the Dawn Safari Tour or enjoy a leisurely start in your room ahead of another day at the Safari Park. That evening we will travel across to Murray Bridge (1 night), our launching point for our Murray River Cruise. We will have a day at leisure in Murray Bridge before boarding the Proud Mary in the evening for our 5-night Indulgence Cruise.
We will spend the next 5 days cruising the Murray River on the intimate Proud Mary vessel (18 cabins), exploring the river’s eco-system at it’s finest. Lagoon cruises, on shore guided walks, apricot farm + motor museum tour, an Australian themed bush barbeque with live entertainment and the Captain’s Dinner make up some of the highlights of this extravagant indulgence cruise.
At the cruise conclusion, we travel back to Adelaide (3 nights) and spend 2 full days exploring the city and surrounds. With plenty to choose from – including gardens, museums, heritage, food and wine, Adelaide is the compact city that has it all. Day 13 we fly direct back to Auckland, and from there shuttle home to Whangarei.
