Our journey begins with pick-up from our Whangarei homes. From there we travel by van to Auckland (1 night) ready to fly out the following morning to our Stopover Point (2 nights) offering the chance to explore to new city en route to Europe. Then it’s an overnight flight to Europe, to reach our first Norwegian destination of Oslo (4 nights). While Norway’s capital city may be smaller and slightly more understated than its Scandinavian neighbours, Oslo is the epitome of “Scandi Cool.” From its stunning natural scenery and scenic location to the eye-catching modern landmarks and thriving Scandinavian culture, Oslo is sure to thrill.
From there, we fly north of the Arctic circle to Kirkenes (2 nights). Here we get a glimpse into Europe’s indigenous Sami culture and the region’s WW2 past. From Kirkenes we board a Hurtigruten vessel and settle into our cabin for an Arctic Voyage (5 nights). This is not an ordinary cruise but a voyage on a real working vessel that connects remote villages along Norway’s stunning coastline. Call in at numerous villages along the route for sightseeing and exploration, enjoy fresh, locally sourced Norwegian fare in the onboard restaurant, and of course soak in the unforgettable scenery in fjords inaccessible by larger vessels or road.
Our voyage docks in Bergen (4 nights). Known for its vibrant arts scene, Bergen is a city of colourful harbours, charming wooden buildings, and stunning mountain vistas. Surrounded by deep fjords it is rich in history and renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. It is also the gateway to the Flam Railway, which we will experience on a day tour into the mountain countryside.
From Bergen we fly to Helsinki (2 nights). Helsinki is a charming seaside city with a unique twist. Located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, Helsinki is a place where urban culture meets coastal nature. The easy-going Nordic lifestyle and friendly locals make it easy to fall in love with this northern city – the capital of the happiest country in the world! From Helsinki, you can choose to extend your European journey—or begin your return home. We’ll have an overnight flight then pause for a 24-hour layover at a Stopover Point (1 night) before arriving in Auckland, followed by a comfortable shuttle back to Whangarei.
