Hosted Tour: 6 days / 5 nights

Our tour starts with your host/driver picking you up from your central Whangarei home, then drive to Miranda (1 night), with a rest break along the way. This evening, you have some time to prepare for your big ride tomorrow.
After Breakfast, you will set off from Kaiaua, biking along section 1 of the Hauraki trail alongside the Firth of Thames. Your host will meet you at a halfway point with refreshments and a picnic lunch. Those that wish to continue the final 30kms to Thames can do so, while those that have had their fill of pedalling can catch a ride to Thames (1 night) in the van.
After a night’s rest in Thames, embark on section 2 of the Hauraki Trail which takes you past the old trail line of Thames and leads to Paeroa (1 night), where you can explore this iconic township.
The following day you will ride through section 3 – the most famous part of the trail which leads through the Karangahake Gorge. Take some stops along the way to explore the rail tunnel and view the various remains of the Gold industry in this area, then meet your host for lunch at the Waikino Hotel. After lunch, carry on to Waihi (2 nights) where you will have some time to rest and recuperate. Whilst in Waihi we’ll uncover the gold mining past and present, take a visit to the Athenree hot pools, and generally discover this jewel in the Hauraki crown.
After two wonderful nights in Waihi, we will shuttle you back to your home in Whangarei.
