We start our trip with Whangarei pick-up, then travel to Auckland Airport (1 night). The next day we catch the morning flight to Perth (3 nights), capital of Western Australia and one of the remotest large cities in the world. We take a few days to explore the city, from Elizabeth Quay and the Swan Bell Tower to Kings Park. We will also head out to nearby Rottnest Island, home of the quokkas who are famously billed as the ‘World’s Happiest Animal’. From Perth we board the Indian Pacific train (4 nights).
Named for the two oceans the train encounters on its journey, the Indian Pacific travels between Perth, Adelaide and Sydney on a spectacular 4352km crossing. With all-inclusive fares that cover everything from world-class food and wine to a range of immersive Off Train Experiences, the hardest decision you’ll need to make is what to have for lunch and which experience to join. Our train journey concludes in Sydney (3 nights). A city that can be explored by rail and sea, Sydney is Australia’s playground and never disappoints as a vacation spot. Visit the iconic Opera House, relax on a ferry to Manly, or shop til you drop in the Pitt St Mall precinct, Sydney has something for everyone. We then fly back to Auckland and meet our van, ready to be delivered again to our letterboxes for a worry-free homecoming.
