On Day 1, we are collected from our Whangarei homes and travel to Auckland for an overnight flight to Hanoi via a transit point.
On Day 2 we arrive in Hanoi (3N), Vietnam’s vibrant capital, where we explore the sights, sounds and flavours of the Old Quarter, soaking in its rich history and lively street culture.
From here on Day 5, we journey to the spectacular Ha Long Bay for a 2-night cruise. Aboard our comfortable vessel, we sail through dramatic limestone karsts, explore mystical caves, and take in the serene beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage landscape – truly one of Vietnam’s most unforgettable experiences.
We then return to Hanoi (1N), giving us time to relax and enjoy a final taste of the city before continuing our journey south.
On Day 8 we fly to Hoi An (5N), a charming riverside town known for its lantern-lit evenings and well-preserved heritage. Here, we wander through the historic Old Town, enjoy local flavours, and experience some of Central Vietnam’s highlights including the Coconut Jungle, and the Tra Que Vegetable garden. With five nights here, there is also time to slow down and soak in the atmosphere at your own pace.
From Hoi An, on Day 13, we fly to Ho Chi Minh City (4N), where modern energy meets deep history. We begin with a half-day city tour before venturing underground to explore the remarkable Cu Chi Tunnels. We also journey out to the Mekong Delta, enjoying a boat ride through its intricate waterways and gaining a glimpse into local life along the river. One evening, we head out on a guided street food experience — a fun and flavourful way to taste the city like a local. There will also be time to enjoy Saigon’s café culture, rooftop dining, and vibrant markets at a relaxed pace.
Our journey through Vietnam concludes with wonderful memories of culture, cuisine and connection.
We say a fond “Tạm biệt” to this truly special destination as we make our way home to Auckland or continue our adventure in Cambodia “The Lost City”
