Our adventure starts with pick-up from our Whangarei homes and a drive to Auckland, where we catch our short flight to Brisbane (1 night). This is our launching spot for road tripping, as we collect a van and head north towards the Queensland Hinterland. After a day of exploring the scenery and heritage of the Hinterland we arrive in Caloundra (2 nights).  From Caloundra we discover the surrounding area, including a day at the famous Australia Zoo, started by Steve Irwin and still run by the Irwin family today.

From here we continue north. Our next road trip leg includes iconic Queensland sights, such as the Big Pineapple, Buderim Ginger plantations and of course the iconic Eumundi Markets. We then arrive in Hervey Bay (2 nights). Hervey Bay is the launch pad to an unforgettable day on Kgari (Fraser Island).

Next up is Bundaberg (2 nights), which wouldn’t be complete without visits to both the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks factory, as well as more hidden gems to be found in this coastal town.

After this, return to Brisbane in style on Australia’s fastest electric train – The Tilt Train – from Bundaberg to Brisbane. Sit back and relax for the journey as you enjoy the hinterland scenery from a different perspective before arriving back in Brisbane (1 night).

The following day we bid Australia farewell and fly back to Auckland, where our van will be ready to meet us and deliver us to our Whangarei homes.
