On Day 1 we are collected from our Whangarei homes, and head to our Auckland Airport (1 night). We fly to our stopover city (2 nights) then on to our first stop on the African continent Johannesburg (2 nights).
On the morning of Day 6, we travel to Kruger National Park (3 nights) – one of Southern Africa’s largest and most iconic game reserves. Comprising of almost 2 million hectares of unrivalled diversity of life forms, you’ll be perfectly positioned to spot Africa’s legendary wildlife— perhaps even all members of the Big Five! At our Kruger Safari Lodge, we will enjoy several opportunities for 4×4 game drives at various times each day.
From Kruger National Park we fly to Victoria Falls (3 nights), a spectacular waterfall located about midway along the course of the Zambezi River, located on the border between Zambia to the north and Zimbabwe to the south. We will be spoilt on a Luxury Sundowner River Cruise, spotting wildlife as a chef prepares canapes and serves drinks while the captain navigates the islands above the thundering Victoria Falls. We will also enjoy a land based private tour of the Falls, and a local village tour. You will also have some free time to explore the area and the optional activities on offer.
We then drive to Chobe National Park (3 nights). Botswana‘s first national park is perhaps best known for its high concentration of elephants. Heading south to Nata (1 night), we continue your journey to the vast salt flats and grassy plains of the Makgadikgadi Pans and on to the incredible waterways of the Okavango Delta (4 nights). We spend some time exploring the maze of lagoons, lakes and streams by mokoro (a traditional dugout canoe) before exploring on foot with a local guide. We will visit the Okavango’s Moremi Game Reserve for more game drives and wildlife spotting and a meerkat & Kalahari Bushman Experience.
Flying from Maun to Johannesburg, we depart for home with an overnight flight plus a 1-night stop at our stopover airport, then fly on to Auckland and shuttle to our homes in central Whangarei.
